The director of NIT, S.S. Gokhale, told mediapersons here today, that students would have to be present at the NIT Calicut for two days -- the first day for registration and the second day for counselling on their respective dates. Only those candidates who have passed Plus Two from institutions in Kerala and Lakshadweep and those who have qualified in the AIEEE 2003 will be eligible for admission to BTech\B.Arch\B.Pharm courses in NITs\RECs\Deemed Universities in India. "There are 298 seats for students from Kerala in the NITs, RECs and BITS in the country. Of these, 188 seats are available at the NIT here.'' Candidates would have to pay separate demand drafts for Rs. 5,000 (Rs. 2,000 for SC\ST) in favour of the Central Counselling Board, MNNIT, Allahabad, payable in Allahabad for each programme (B.Tech\B.Arch\B.Pharm). Cash or Cheques will not be accepted. The original certificates to be produced for counselling include admit card of AIEEE, All-India Rank (AIR) card, SSLC or equivalent as proof for date of birth, certificate and marklist of qualifying exam, community certificate for SC\ST candidates, medical certificate for physically handicapped (PH), four passport size photos and passport for candidates who have qualified from abroad. The original certificates are to be produced. Photocopies\certificates regarding submission of originals in another institution or lost in transit will not be accepted. The registration and counselling dates for candidates who wish to join B.Pharm and B.Arch are July 10 and July 11.
