Service tax: Decision today

BANGALORE JULY 23. The Chief Minister, S.M.Krishna, has assured the Kannada Film Producers' Association that the Government will take a decision on the service tax charged by cinemas on Thursday. He was speaking to the office-bearers of the association after receiving a memorandum from them at the Vidhana Soudha here on Wednesday.

Basant Kumar Patil, President of the association, K. Manju, Vice-President, "Rockline" Venkatesh, Joe Simon, Raghavendra Rajkumar, office-bearers of the association, and Parvathamma Rajkumar, producer, met the Chief Minister.

Later addressing presspersons, Mr. Basant Kumar Patil said they had urged the Chief Minister to withdraw the service tax. The Karnataka Film Exhibitors' Federation also submitted a memorandum seeking retention of service tax.
