The issue came to light after the Nirmal MLA, Allola Indrakaran Reddy, today inspected the family planning unit at the area hospital in Nirmal on complaints that the woman doctor was absent for several days. The MLA during his surprise visit found her on leave. According to the Nirmal DSP, B.Vidyasagar Rao, Kannaiah and his wife, Nirmala, also a doctor, were posted at the family planning unit at Nirmal. While Dr. Kannaiah was regular for duty, his wife abstained from duty for several days. The doctor allegedly used to forge her signature in the attendance register and went to the extent of drawing her salary clandestinely.
