Besides, the delayed announcement of funds by the Government and belated execution of works even on Tuesday before the commencement of the Pushkarams cast a shadow on the Pushkarams in the Dharmapuri temple. During a visit on Tuesday at the Dharmapuri ghats, it was found that the water level was at a low level and not even touching the bathing ghats where the officials had made arrangements. On the other hand, the water level at the Kaleshwaram temple was flowing at a high speed inundating the bathing ghats due to merger of three rivers Godavari, Pranahita and Saraswathi at the temple. The works for the laying of CC roads, temporary shelters, changing rooms etc in Dharmapuri were still continuing till evening. As the deadline for the completion of the works was nearing, the authorities had intensified all the Pushkaram works such as sanitation, cleaning of roads, electrification, barricading, erection of temporary shelters, etc. Earlier, addressing a press conference here on Tuesday morning, the Collector, Sumita Dawra, said that the administration had made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Pushkarams in all the temple towns of Dharmapuri, Kaleshwaram, Manthani and Koti Lingala. She said that they were laying emphasis on providing protected drinking water, proper medical assistance and improving sanitation in temples. At the Dharmapuri temple, the Collector said that they were making arrangements for the shifting of SRSP water for the supply of drinking water in the town. Besides, they had dug nine borewells, erected five syntex water tanks and were distributing water through tankers. A team of engineers comprising one EE, two DEs and 10 AEs of the Rural water supply department would take care of the protected drinking water in Dharmapuri.
