Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Legal Correspondent
The writ petition was filed by Yadagiri Reddy, general secretary of TRS. He said that the Election Commission was not allotting to it a new symbol claiming that there was no provision for allotting symbols to unrecognized political parties. The petitioner told the court that a separate symbol was allotted to it during the local body elections by the State Election Commission. He said that the inaction on the part of the Election Commission to allot a symbol would lead to situation wherein the candidates put up by TRS would have to fight elections on different symbols. The Bench posted the matter to September 8.
