Mufti welcomes Musharraf's offer

CHENNAI Aug. 12. The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, has welcomed the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf's offer to stop the indiscriminate firing along the Line of Control.

Mr. Sayeed told presspersons here today that this part of the statement was "in line with the Confidence Building Measures initiated by the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee" and a "good indication" on the direction in which the peace process was headed.
