At Saidapet, about 200 DMK members and the Youth Wing deputy secretary, M.Subramaniam, were detained when they attempted to burn the copies. They were lodged in the Saidapet police station. Similar protests were reported also from T.Nagar where about 100 partymen were detained, and from Chepauk, where about 50 members were picked up, according to the statement. Reports of protests were also received from various parts of North Chennai. The partymen were released in the evening, the police said.
