Mr. Muthuswami Meenakshisundaram, better known as M.M.Sundram, (80), s/o Late Mr N.S.Muthuswami Iyer, Parameshvara College, Jaffna, passed away suddenly on 15th July, 2007 at the Palms West Hospital, West Palm Beach, Florida. Born in Madurai, he finished his school at Jaffna, Sri Lanka and graduated from St Joseph's, Trichy, with a degree in Physics from the University of Madras; he also received his Master's Degree from the Banares Hindu University and he was awarded the prestigious B.Sc Honours degree in Economics by the London University. His continued search for knowledge also got him a Bachelors degree in Business from the State University of New York He joined the Sri Lanka Education Service and was on the staff of Parameshvara College, Vaideshwara Vidhyala, and Jaffna Hindu College Jaffna . He later joined the Education Deartment as Inspector of Schools, in Pelmedulla, Ratnapura and Galle. Later he joined the Examinations Dept as superintendent of Examinations at Colombo and retired to immigrate to the USA in June of 1969. He taught Economics and Government at the Bishop Ludden High school at Syracuse, New York. Then, at the invitation of the Zambian Government accepted an assignment to organize and run the Examinations Department in Lusaka, Zambia for over three years. He also helped the education department at the Montego Bay Jamaica, to organize. He then returned to the USA and worked as an Economist for the State of New York and then joined Oklahoma State Office of Personnel Management, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as Senior Personnel Specialist (Examinations) from 1979 and retired in 1995 . He was awarded the Oklahoma State Employee of the Year award by the Governor of Oklahoma. He was very proud of his domicile in the beautiful State of Oklahoma and was well known for his intelligent appreciation of the people and culture of Oklahoma. He had a unique sense of humor and an unusual goodness and kindness about him. He was truly the personification of “caring “. He is well known for his passionate love of politics, his analytical skills and extraordinary writing abilities. His passing away is grieved by his wife Padmaja Sundaram, their son Dr Ganesh Sundaram, daughter in law Dr Monika Sundaram, grand children Mathilde and Sophie, six brothers, two sisters, all the nephews and nieces and a host of friends in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
