For those who can afford it here’s another opportunity. Students with a minimum of 50 per cent in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology can take up M.B.B.S. degree course in Philippines.
This year, so far about 350 students from India have left to pursue education in Philillines says Ashok Sen, vice president, Health Care Management International, (HCMI) Chennai.
“Education is not a problem and students can get around easily as English is widely spoken and the medium of instruction is English,” he said.
Students who are admitted to one of the seven medical colleges there are given six-year visas.The course fee ranges from Rs. 7 lakh to Rs. 11.5 lakh and covers the visa expenses. Mr. Sen says students who want to practice in Philippines can approach the organisation for work visa after completing their studies.
HCMI has a programme including veterinary medicine and nursing.
The nursing course is accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission and also partners with the University of Virgin Islands, U.S. Nursing students are assured 100 per cent placement in the U.S. on completing their course.
