All about MBA admission process
I am doing B.Tech in ECE. I would like to know about admission procedures of various MBA colleges.

The admission to various MBA colleges in India is generally based on performance at entrance test conducted at national level or State level or by the colleges individually.
The other criteria for admission along with entrance test can include performance at group discussion, personal interview and previous academic background.
The following are some details on MBA colleges and entrance tests:
Common Admission Test: CAT is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management every year on the third Sunday of November. The eligibility criterion for appearing for CAT is minimum 50 per cent marks in graduation.
The areas of assessment include verbal ability, reading comprehension, quantitative ability, logical reasoning, data interpretation and data sufficiency. Apart from the IIMs, many other institutes like Fore School of Management, New Delhi ( www.fsm.ac.in), Nirma University, Institute of Management, Ahmedabad ( www.imnu.ac.in/www/index.asp) and Management Development Institute, Gurgaon ( www.mdi.ac.in) also admit students based on CAT scores.

XLRI admission test: XAT is conducted in the month of January by XLRI, Jamshedpur ( www.xlri.edu). The eligibility criterion for appearing for XAT is graduation in any discipline. The entrance test als
o includes essay writing. The other institutes that accept XAT scores include Gitam Institute of Foreign Trade, Vishakapatnam ( www.gift-india.org), Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar ( www.ximb.ac.in) and Loyola Institute of Business Administration, Chennai ( www.liba.edu).
Symbiosis National Aptitude Test: SNAP is mandatory for applying to postgraduate programmes in Symbiosis Institutes. SNAP includes a section on general knowledge. Some Symbiosis institutes are Symbiosis Institute of Business Management

Joint Management Entrance Test: JMET score is used by IISc Bangalore and IITs for admission into their management programmes. The preliminary eligibility criterion for admission into these institutes is BE/ B.Tech or Master’s deg

GMAT: Indian School Business, Hyderabad accepts GMAT score. This score can also be used for admission into various business schools abroad. The first section in GMAT is Analytical Writing Assessment, where you are given two writing tas
ks- Analysis of an Issue and Analysis of an Argument. The second is quantitative section. There are two types of questions-data sufficiency and problem solving.
The third is verbal section. The questions are based on Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, and Sentence Correction.
The pattern of the latter- two sections is multiple-choice type.

Management Aptitude Test: MAT is conducted by All-India Management Association.

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi ( www.iift.edu), Faculty of Management Science, University of Delhi ( www.fms.edu), Institute of Rural Management, Anand, conduct their own entrance examinations for admission in to their management programmes.
Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai ( www.nmims.edu) conducts NMAT.
Apart from these there are separate State-level entrance examinations like ICET (Andhra Pradesh) and TANCET (Tamil Nadu) to select candidates for admission into various MBA colleges affiliated to respective universities in the states.
Also, since you come from an engineering background, you can consider giving GATE for admission into M.Tech or GRE for admission into MS programmes abroad.
