EXCITING PROFESSION: Get transported to the world of aeronautical technology.

I completed my Mechanical Engineering degree in 2005 with a good record. Due to domestic problems, I had to discontinue M.E. in 2006. I want to pursue Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering and want to join a space agency. Please guide me.

Do not feel lost just because you have dropped out of a programme. You can still pursue your interests and go on with life and be successful. The Bangalore-based Indian Institute of Science ( www.iisc.ernet.in) offers Research and Master of Engineering programmes in aerospace engineering. Considered the oldest and the largest aerospace engineering department in India, it offers exciting opportunities to talented students.

For admission to the M.E. programmes, the candidates should have B.E. or B.Tech degrees in Aerospace/Chemical/Civil/Electrical/Electronics/ Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science. Studies in Physical Education are better pursued in the regular mode. However, since you want to continue your present job and still pursue education, you should take the following programmes of Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University (TNPESU) ( www.tnpesu.org) offered by the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE):

Two-year, four-semester post-graduation programmes (eligibility: any degree):

Master of Business Administration – Sports Management.

Master of Business Administration – General Programme.

Master of Business Administration – Sports Information Technology.

Master of Science – Information Technology.

Two-year, non-semester post-graduation programmes (eligibility: any degree):

Master of Science – Sports Journalism.

Master of Science – Psychology.

Post-Graduate Diploma programmes of one-year duration (eligibility: any degree)

Sports Information Technology (two semesters).

Sport Psychology (annual scheme).

Sports Marketing (annual scheme).

Sports Journalism (annual scheme).

The TNPESU was established by Act of the State Legislature in 2004 and is the first of its kind in India and helps in the cause of excellence in Physical Education. The Distance Education Centres (DEC) and Collaborative Programme Centres (CPE) cater to the needs of the learners. As far as the IAS eligibility criteria is concerned, the candidate must hold a degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

This clearly means that students with the BUM&S are eligible to sit for the examinations.
