Cambridge ESOL contest

Two winners will represent India at an international business English speaking contest in Singapore


Cambridge ESOL is organising a competition to find the best speakers of Business English among BEC (Business English Certificate) candidates in India.

Two winners from an all-India final will be chosen to represent India in an international business English speaking competition in Singapore with other competitors coming from China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.

Candidates can take BEC examination between October 2007 and June 2008 at any of three levels – BEC Preliminary, BEC Vantage and BEC Higher. At each level, the candidates are assessed on the skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking and an overall grade is awarded based on the aggregate of marks gained in the four components.

Candidates qualifying in the BEC exam are awarded Cambridge ESOL BEC certificate, which is valid for life. High performing candidates will be invited to take part in a business communication contest in which they can win an international MBA from Newcastle University, Australia at the PSB Singapore campus or a short term course at London Metropolitan University, UK and Phoenix Institute, Australia, as well as other prizes.

Cambridge ESOL is a department of the University of Cambridge in the UK which specialises in English language testing. Cambridge ESOL is the leading global provider of English tests and certificates for learners of all ages and levels. The Business English Certificate (BEC) is an internationally recognised certificate in English skills for the workplace. Cambridge ESOL exams are administered by the British Council in India.

2,000 centres

Candidates can take BEC exams at any of the 2,000 authorised centres across 130 countries.
