Thirst for knowledge: Students at a Physics exhibition.
I completed B.E. Mechanical Engineering in 2006 and am now working. Does MBA with specialisation in IT cover areas such as Java?

Those pursuing MBA with specialisation in IT and similar areas benefit if they are studying in B-schools that come under the technical universities. The curriculum and pedagogy is complete in all respects. It is better that you check the syllabi and then decide on pursuing the programme of your choice. Some of the technical universities are Anna University ( www.annauniv.edu) and Visvesvaraya Technical University (VTU) ( www.vtu.ac.in).
Law colleges
I will be moving to Puducherry with my family, as my father has been posted there. I want to apply for the law programme in a college there. Please advice.

Bangalore University (established in 1964 as a State University) is recognised and funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
It offers Graduation, Post-Graduation, Certificate and Diploma programmes by the distance mode for those who are not in a position to pursue higher education on the campus.
You can contact the Director, Directorate of Correspondence Courses and Distance Education, Central College Campus, Ambedkar Veedhi, Bangalore-1.
The programmes are recognised as on par with the regular programmes of any University. Since you have not sought information on any course, EducationPlus would request you to meet the Director of the Directorate and get information on the programmes of your choice.
I am doing my postgraduation in Physics. I want to know about the job opportunities for M.Sc. (Physics) students in India.

Physics is considered as the foundation of modern science. It encompasses within itself the study of the universe from the largest galaxies to the structure of matter: the atom, the nucleus, and quarks. Its concepts, from relativity to quantum mechanics, challenge the imagination. Physics and the technologies developed by physicists play a major role in chemistry, biology, medicine, electronics, geology, and in the applied fields of optics, nanotechnology, computer science and engineering.
If you have a passion for understanding how things work and enjoy scientific experiments and mathematics, you should study physics which has fascinated men and women of every age including Newton, Maxwell, Curie, Einstein, Bohr, Schrödinger, Dirac, Meitner, Feynman and Hawking.
A knowledge and understanding of the principles of physics not only leads one to a profound understanding of the physical world but also supplies the scientist with the insight to develop innovative ideas.
The technology and devices that influence our daily lives are based upon the discoveries of physics. Cell phone, laser printer, internet, high-temperature superconductors and high-speed computers are only a few examples of the phenomenal physics-based technological progress witnessed in recent times.
Theoretical and experimental physicists are on the cutting edge of this exciting and vital progress. They are everywhere: they work in industry, in national laboratories, and on college campuses. They are astronauts and cosmonauts as well. As Physics incorporates within itself myriad disciplines, it is better to identify a specialisation that would suit your requirements. Besides M.Sc, you can pursue Ph.D which would catapult you into a better environment and a quality career.

Studying ICWA
I have worked with an accountant of repute for about four years. Now I have realised that an ICWA qualification will be useful. I want to know what the scope of the course is, the required percentage of marks for taki
ng ICWA and the centre where application forms are given.

It is good to have worked with a Chartered Account of repute, for it will help you to understand the nuances of the job in a better fashion. Barbara Wertheim Tuchman (American Historian and Author), has rightly observed, “Learning from experience is a faculty almost never practised.”
The Cost and Management Accountants facilitate strategic management decision in respect of economic activities of an organisation by their sheer expertise. The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants Of India (ICWA) (Email: sdicwai@vsnl.net) aims at imparting coaching and training in the subject of Cost & Management Accountancy. It was established by an Act of Parliament in 1959, though the same was in existence as a company since 1944. The Institute has four Regional councils in the metros.
Job opportunities are there in plenty. Some of the jobs that one can aspire for are Finance Director, Financial Controller, Accountant, Cost Controller, Finance Manager, and Chief Internal Auditor in public and private sector organisations.
Alternatively, you can find self-employment in the following areas:
Mandatory Cost Audit under Section 233(B) of the Companies Act, 1956.
Certification under Export & Import Policy.
Excise Audit under Section 14A of the Central Excise Act and Special Audit of Modvat Credit availed of under Section 14AA of the Central Excise Act.
Certification of manufacturing account as per Customs Act.
Consultancy assignments.
