Agilent Engineering and Technology Awards

Agilent Technologies Inc., a premier test and measurement (T&M) technology providers across communications, electronics, life sciences, material sciences and bio analytical measurements, has announced the commencement of Agilent Engineering and Technology Awards (AETA) 2008.

Driven by the enthusiastic response to AETA 2007, Agilent has invited B. Tech and M. Tech students from over 50 engineering colleges across the country to participate in this competition. Students are required to submit innovative engineering projects either in the field of electronics and communications engineering or in the life sciences/ bio analytical streams. The criteria for ‘hands-on engineering’ project include those that are original and innovative, based on new technologies, application oriented-going on to become industrial products, and those that lead to advancement in measurement science.

The winning team will get to visit and interact with world class scientists at Agilent’s best-in-class research and development facility in San Francisco.

Venkatesh Valluri, President and Country General Manager, Agilent Technologies India Pvt. Ltd., said, “Practical engineering talent is critical to the growth of India as a base for cutting edge research and development and innovation across industries. Agilent is the world’s premier measurement technology company, and it is only appropriate for us to promote science education and innovations in such technologies in India.”

Through AETA, the company aims to build competence in research and development among students, with an emphasis on future technologies, leading to innovative product development. This is in line with the company’s commitment to encourage hands on/practically-oriented engineering talent in the country.

The last date for submission of entries online is January 30, 2008. The competition will involve four regional rounds leading to the selection of eight best entries. These eight finalists will compete in the national round in the first week of June 2008. For more details, visit www.aetaindia.com
