Cultural festival celebrated with a twist at PIMS
Nimble feet: Medicos of Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences during the annual day celebrations in Karimnagar.
The sixth annual celebrations of Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Nagunur on the outskirts of Karimnagar town was celebrated with a difference. The medicos had captivated the audience with their scintillating dance performances. Right from the traditional classical dance forms to the latest dance forms of popular film numbers, the students danced to the rhythmic beats and enthralled the audience.
However, the highlight of the event was the dance performances by the professors on par with the students. Director and head of the institute Dr. B. Prabhakar Rao had captivated the students and the visitors with his performances. He enacted the roles of Sri Krishna Devaraya and the Lord Jesus and won accolades.
Achievements
Prathap Anjani of MBBS first year secured the first rank in the annual examinations and won the Chennadi Marthanda Rao puraskar and cash reward of Rs. one lakh. A. Nagavenkata Supriya secured second rank in the MBBS first year examinations.
In the MBBS second year examinations conducted in May 2007, Komal Bohra and Steffi Ann Jose secured first and second ranks respectively. In the final MBBS part-II examinations, M. Venkataramana and B. Keerthi secured first and second ranks respectively.
Venkataramana, the first batch (2002-03) student of the college and stood first in over all MBBS course, was rewarded with a gold medal and blue ribbon as the best outgoing student of the college. Karimnagar district and sessions judge U. Durga Prasad Rao presented the award to the student in the presence of PIMS managing director B. Srinivasa Rao on the occasion.

M.Ed. exams from Jan. 2
Master of Education (M.Ed) I Semester examinations of Kakatiya University will be from January 2. According to the Controller of examinations Prof. T Papi Reddy the examinations dates are January 2, 4, 7 and, 9 and the timing is between 2 pm and 5 pm. The examination centre will be University College of Education, KU campus for all the students of M.Ed. colleges.
Fee Dates
The last date for payment of examination fee for B.CA I Year annual examinations of Kakatiya University is January 3. The fee can also be paid with a late fee of Rs. 20 upto January 10 and January 17 with a late fee of Rs. 250/-.
Pre-Ph.D. examination
The Pre-Ph.D. examinations in Computer Science Engineering of Kakatiya University will be held in the month of March/April. The last date for payment of fee without fee is December 31, 2007 and with a late fee of Rs. 100/- is January 8.
Book released
Kakatiya University retired English Professor Laxmana Murthy released book entitled “Bhagawad Gita-Uyyalapatalu” authored by Dr. Dasari Damodar at a special function held at Rajaraja Narendandhra Bhashanilayam on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Laxmana Murthy said the entire Indian philosophy of ten thousand years is presented in 700 slokas in Bhagawad Gita which covers all aspects of human life. It is only an apprehension that Sanskrit is a tough language but in fact it is easier than English and can be learnt in three months, he said. He exhorted all women to learn Sanskrit as their children would be benefited. He appreciated the attempt of the poet presenting the theme of entire Bhagawad Gita in prosaic Telugu “Uyyala patalu.”
Warangal district legal authority secretary M. Kistappa said Bhagawad Gita would help in bringing down crime rate and to establish peace in society. Prof. K. Sampathkumara Charya, Prof. A. Bhoomaiah were among the present.
Rs. 3.5 lakh donated
Kakatiya University pharmacy alma mater Dr. B. Prabha Shankar has donated Rs. 3.5 lakh for the construction of Pharmacy alumni building.
He presented a cheque to the amount to Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. Linga Murthy at the seventh Pharmacy Alumni Meeting held on December 8.
Dr. Prabha Shankar has also instituted a gold medal for the best out going pharmacy out going students from Kakatiya University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Vice-Chancellor Prof N. Linga Murthy applauded the generous contribution of Dr. Prabha Shankar for the development of the College.
University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Murthy said the alumni building will have all state of art facilities such as air conditioned class rooms and laboratories with hi-tech facilities.
