Read your way to success

S.D.M. Siddhartha Mahila Degree Kalasala: Reading is a skill by itself, which requires aspirants to make simple changes in their approach to master the talent.
To begin with, one need not focus all attention on reading the entire page with overall concentration. A quick glance at the main point and important words will give an immediate understanding that finishes the task within the available time.
In our day-to-day correspondence, many people tend to spend a lot of time on reading the entire story. This will not allow them to have additional time to spare for reading other stories or reports. For a better grip over communication and language skills, a student should give sufficient to reading every day. This should be done on a daily basis so that the memory gets refreshed with the knowledge. This is why reading occupies a prime place in the skill set of a person.
In tests and examinations, they assess the overall performance of a student and not in compartments of their performance. Unless one answers most of the questions, it will not be possible to satisfy the examiners and get a good score. In my opinion, there is a greater need for the academicians to place stress on the reading habits of young people. The present generation is deprived of this in view of the increasing impact of the electronic media. In this connection, one should look at newer ways of exposing the students to the all-important habit of reading for one’s own personal improvement. This is all the more important in view of the reorientation of recruiting organisations and academics.
