For the CMS Institute of Management students, it was an opportunity to exhibit their entrepreneurial skills. Avishkar ’08 held recently saw the management students spreading out their wares for sale and making profits. It was like a fancy fete. There were 18 stalls selling ‘biriyani’, bakery products, juices, chocolates, cosmetics, compact discs, besides those that had games.
Gorge Bakes had bakery products that were bought from outside and competitively priced. There was a burger and ‘samosa’ stall. Here the students had themselves made the burger stuffing and priced the product with a profit of Rs. 4. The compact discs stall sold MP3 discs, video CDs and audio CDs.
The most interesting stall was the one that contained fancy items such as tattoo stickers, arm and wrist bands, socks, bindis, mehandi cones, etc.. Team leader K. Prithvik said that the stall was decided after a thorough market survey.
At the end of the day, Gorge Bakes walked away with the price. According to principal Sandhya Menon, the winners were selected on the basis of the choice of the product, their pricing, marketing and selling strategies.
