Long lasting: A friend is someone with whom we can share everything.
Arts College, OU: Life is full of relationships. Among them friendship is a beautiful one which everyone enjoys it the most.
It is an interpersonal relationship. It comes after parental bonding and before paired bonding.
A friend is a person with whom we can share everything without any hesitation; a shoulder to lean on in times of dejection and depression. At present I don’t have that shoulder to lean on or to share a laugh.
It was a bitter experience indeed but something which I can share with. I don’t know how many of you would have lost a friend by calling him or her using a nick name. Yes I lost my buddy for the sole reason nicknaming him ‘teddy bear’.
The very next moment the reply from him was “I hate such things; I am not interested in talking to you.”
I was taken aback and said. “If I don’t have that liberty to call my friend in a friendly way then what are friends for?” and left the place.
Of course problems and misunderstandings come and go between friends but one should try to speak out and solve it rather than breaking the sacred bond.
Quarrels and arguments are learning experiences not only about your friend but also about yourself. They not only help us know more about friends but also where it is required to be humble and polite in relationship.
It also gives you an insight about the kind of friends you want to have or the one you want to be with.
The fact behind this is that a disagreement helps to find out what things you may like or dislike to do together. Moreover a small break up actually helps strengthen the relationship.
We do not possess friendship, friendship possesses us. If we have any problem we share it with our friend but if we have a problem with our friend with whom can we share it with? Hope my friend who is keeping me at arm’s length would one day hug me once again investing in this ever green relationship.
