CIFE offers Ph.D. in fisheries
The Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Mumbai - 400 061, a deemed university, has invited applications for a national-level entrance examination for admission to its Ph.D. programmes in the following disciplines:
Fisheries resource management (6 seats); aquaculture (8); post-harvest technology (3); fish genetics (3); fish biotechnology (2); fish pathology and microbiology (3); fish nutrition and biochemistry (4); and fish business management (1).
There are 30 seats. A candidate should opt for any one of the disciplines and is required to appear for the entrance test in it. The minimum qualifications required are B.F.Sc. and M.F.Sc. (4+2 years) or B.Sc. and M.Sc. (3 years) from CIFE (till 1995) or D.F.Sc., provided the applicant should hold a bachelor’s degree in biological science and has two years of experience in fisheries development after obtaining the diploma. Minimum age for admission is 22 as on September 30.
Institutional fellowship of Rs. 10,500 a month will be awarded to the scholars.

The filled-in applications, along with a demand draft for Rs. 300 drawn in favour of the ICAR unit, CIFE Mumbai, payable at SBI, Versova, should be sent to the Registrar, Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Andheri (W), Mumbai - 400 061, to reach the addressee on or before June 21.
