UGC-funded M.Sc. course in bioengineering
The funds are being given under ‘Innovative Programme — Teaching and Research in Interdisciplinary and Emerging Areas’
Virudhunagar Hindu Nadars’ Senthikumara Nadar College, Virudhunagar, will offer an M.Sc. (bioengineering) course from the academic year 2008-09 with funds from the University Grants Commission. The course will be multidisciplinary involving biochemistry, botany, chemistry, computer science, microbiology, physics and zoology. It aims to develop human resource qualified to work in biotechnical or manufacturing industries or in research.
Students of the following disciplines alone will be admitted to the course: B.Sc. life science, chemical science and physical science.
The funds are being given under ‘Innovative Programme — Teaching and Research in Interdisciplinary and Emerging Areas’ to support specialised course at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including postgraduate diplomas. The financial assistance, given on a 100 per cent basis, is provided for meeting critical requirements such as laboratory equipment and contingency and recruiting staff for starting courses in interdisciplinary and emerging areas.
The limit of financial assistance will be Rs. 50 lakh.
