Symposium on entrepreneurship development



CREATING JOB GIVERS: Saroja Prabhakaran, Vice-Chancellor of Avinashilingam University for Women, inaugurating the symposium on entrepreneurship development.

The Department of Commerce of the Avinashilingam University for Women organised a symposium on “Entrepreneurship Development” recently. Vice-chancellor Saroja Prabhakaran inaugurated the symposium and said that entrepreneurship created large-scale employment and promotion of capital formation. Experts from various fields like banks, MSME Development Institute and the National Entrepreneurship Network, spoke.

Karpagam College of Engineering got an Innovation Centre on its premises to be used as an embedded MEMS laboratory. Training in cutting edge technologies will be held here. Joint research and development projects, providing solutions for real time embedded systems to industries will be held.

The University Grants Commission has sanctioned Rs. 2.35 lakh to three staff members of the Kongunadu Arts and Science College to carry out research for two years. R. Devi, K. Thilagavathi, and S. Paulsamy, who received the grant will carry out research in the areas of topology, graph theory and in-vitro regeneration of some medicinal plants in the Nilgiris.

Christ the King Polytechnic College organised a summer course for its students. As many as 100 students participated and received certificates.

The NSS volunteers of Coimbatore Institute of Technology organised a special NSS camp in the villages of Kangayampalayam, Kadambadi, Kumarapalayam and Sengathurai. Besides social service activities, the volunteers presented a short film on “How to Prevent Heart Diseases and How To Respond to Diabetes” to the villagers.

The Department of Bio-informatics of G.R. Damodaran College of Science signed a memorandum of understanding with the Institute of Computational Biology, Bangalore, for research and collaboration in the fields of bio-informatics, molecular biology, pharmaceutical biotechnology, systems biology, insilico drug designing and algorithm development.
