I am confused about the lateral entry schemes in computers that Sikkim Manipal University is offering; other universities are also offering the same courses. Being a Diploma (CSE) holder will I benefit? Besides, will the same be recognised?

The following would be the entry requirements for a candidate with your qualification; hence you could make the best use of the same:

Direct entry: A student having qualification for Bachelor degree can register for first semester of M.Sc-IT.

Lateral entry (first level): A student having the qualification for Bachelor degree and six-month computer course can directly enrol for second semester of M.Sc.-IT.

Lateral entry (second level): A student having the qualification for Bachelor degree in Computer Science OR B.E./B.Tech can directly enrol for third semester of M.Sc.-IT.

Institute of Petroleum Management, Gandhinagar (IPMG) ( www.ipmg.ac.in) has been set up under Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI) as a centre of excellence in industry learning to develop human resources to cater to the petroleum and allied energy sectors, improve knowledge base of policy makers and technologists and provide a competitive edge to leaders to compete in the global arena. It has been promoted with the initiative of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd (GSPC) which is a leader in the energy sector.

IPMG offers programmes addressing the managerial requirements of the Oil & Gas sector. The course offerings pertain to Management, Economics, Supply Chain, International Geo-Political affairs, Project Management, Oil and Gas Accounting and Finance and Laws, to mention a few areas, of the Oil and Gas sector. Admissions: For admissions to the 2008 batch (3rd batch) prospective candidates should have appeared for the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by IIMs on November 18,, 2007.

The minimum academic eligibility criterion for admission to PGDM-Oil and Gas sector is a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing for the final bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination can also apply.

Recently I saw an advertisement of an institute under the aegis of M.S. Ramaiah group of institutions offering courses of a University from U.K. (Coventry). Are such courses recognised by the academic system in India, mainly the UGC?
