‘Economic crisis originated from banking sector’
Prof. Nagadevara, professor at IIM-Bangalore, delivered a lecture on “Global crisis and its impact on IT industry” at the VR Siddhartha Engineering College. He said that the present economic crisis should be viewed as having originated from the banking sector which marked high risk lending at abnormally low interest rates to the housing sector in the US.
The IT and BPO sector need not be apprehensive in the global economic crisis, he added.
Lecture on ‘Analytical CRM’
Prof. Vishnu Prasad Nagadevara, a professor in Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, delivered a lecture on “Analytical CRM” organised at the PG Centre of the PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science recently. He underlined the retention of existing customers as equally important like attracting new customers. Prof. Rajesh C. Jampala, head of the Department of Business Administration, coordinated the programme.
National Education Day celebrated
The KBN College organised National Education Day celebrations on its campus recently. Addressing as chief guest, Bar Association leader Vemula Hazarathaiah Gupta said that education was one factor that would create self-confidence in every human being.
He said that students should set high goals before them and persevere to achieve them with determination. College vice-principal V. Narayana Rao also spoke.
Bio-Fest 2008 organised
The Life Sciences department of Nalanda Degree College organised Bio-Fest 2008 on its campus recently, in which students from Krishna and surrounding districts participated.
They competed in the university-level inter-collegiate quiz and paper presentation competitions. Siddhartha Medical College principal M.V. Ramanamma and Prof. Vasantha Mani and others spoke. College principal M. Anuradha and head of the department Shakeena were present.
Inter-collegiate competitions held
The Nalanda Degree College celebrated National Educational Day by conducting inter-collegiate competitions for students. Acharya Nagarjuna University Registrar M.V.N. Sharma delivered a speech as the chief guest of the occasion.
He stressed the importance of developing life and communication skills to do well in the present day competitive environment locally and globally. Principal M. Anuradha also spoke.
Workshops for students
ICFAI National College is conducting student empowerment workshops to offer placement training to final year degree students of the city colleges. Group discussions, “just a minute” sessions, mock interviews and motivating lectures will be held.

The department of civil engineering of VR Siddhartha Engineering College organised a one-day workshop on “Best practices in solid waste management”. N.R. Krishna Murty, head of the department, emphasised on solid waste management as important for alternative source of energy.
Prathibha awards
Pamarthi Sambasiva Rao and R. Priyanka, Intermediate students of Satavahana College in Vijayawada, got the Prathibha awards of excellence for 2007-`08.
The college principal and management congratulated them on this occasion.
