ZIPS – for engineering students

ZIPS (Zeal Tech Institute of Post-Graduate Studies) Research Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, to catalyse higher education and research in the areas of science, engineering and technology was inaugurated by R. Radhakrishnan, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University, Coimbatore, here recently.

The foundation is a joint effort of S. Kannan, A. Selva Kumar, and G. Manikandan.

According to Mr. Kannan, Joint Managing Trustee of the foundation, the organisation will attempt to transform educational institutions from being mere providers of manpower, to portals of knowledge and foster advance research in engineering and technology.

This is expected to help institutions develop and implement systems to improve and maintain quality of technical education.

Elaborating on the foundation activities, Mr. Selva Kumar, Managing Trustee of the foundation, said: “To achieve our objectives we have established two core groups, namely Quest and Benchmark.

Quest is the research arm of the foundation that will develop resources for the research community and would focus on research and higher learning. This will also include key operations like facilitation services for Ph. D. scholars, consultancy and research projects for Government / private sectors, conducting national and international conferences, organising expert visits and developing new technologies that can be patented and sold to Original Equipment Manufacturer.”

Summits were being planned to be conducted at regular intervals for the management teams to exchange their views and find appropriate solutions for issues related to building quality systems. The participating institutions could articulate their views and gain community support for their programmes and initiatives.

More information on the foundation is available on www.zipsresearch.in.
