Post-graduate students of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Mangalore University, will get an opportunity to visit China and study its media from next year. According to K. V. Liaoning National University, Shenyang, is also keen on a collaboration.
Prof. Nagaraj said the agreements were signed on November 20 during his visit to China along with a delegation. The scope of agreements include student and teacher exchange, taking up collaborative research projects, organising lectures through video conferences, and arranging international seminars. It will cover print, electronic and new media (web or internet media).
A copy of the agreement with Shanghai Jiao Tong University read: “…it is to promote collaborative agreements and arrangements in the area of management, journalism, mass communication, media literacy and studies, print media, web media, broadcast and TV media as also integrated design and media inter-disciplinary studies…” A copy of the agreement with Fudan University read the same.
Earlier collaboration
Prof. Nagaraj said his department has been having a collaboration with Volda University College, Norway, for the past 10 years. Under this agreement, 15 students of the department have visited Norway for studies and 85 students from Norway have come over to Mangalore.
