Scientific awareness: Inaugural session of a seminar for women self-help groups at Rajapalayam Rajus’ College, Rajapalayam.
A seminar on ‘Creation of scientific awareness for women self-help groups of Virudhunagar district’ was organised at Rajapalayam Rajus’ College, in association with Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, in the second week of June.
The Rajapalayam Tahsildar, K. Kalimuthu, in his inaugural address, highlighted how women’s education was essential for the nation’s development.
A. A. Subba Raja, president, college council, in his presidential address, emphasised the role of an educational institution to create scientific awareness among women for their socio-economic development.
V. Venkatraman, Principal, welcomed the gathering.
V.K. Subramania Raja, secretary, offered felicitations.
M. Lawrence, Assistant Manager, Syndicate Bank, explained the banking procedures for getting loans and other assistance. Uma Maheswari, Assistant Medical Officer, Government Hospital, clarified the doubts of participants on women health and hygiene.
Santhi Venkatesan, secretary, Bharathi Foundation, demonstrated the production of low-cost artificial jewellery.
M. Kanagasabapathy and N. Ramesh, Lecturers, Department of Chemistry, demonstrated the preparation of products of domestic use.
G. Srinivasagan, Lecturer, proposed a vote of thanks.

A workshop for young faculty members to enable them create a passion among students for their studies with psychological approach was conducted on June 12 and 13 at Nadar Mahajana Sangam S. Vellaichamy Nadar College.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Principal, S. Asokan.
Dheep, psychiatrist, and his team members conducted sessions on understanding the adolescents, role play, interpersonal relationship, relationship building between students and teachers, building up positive attitude, decision making, stress management, actualization of students, handling emotion, assertiveness, creative/critical thinking, body language and team work.
