Orientation on ‘solar energy for rural applications’

Speakers stress the need for energy conservation

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Dr. Navalar Nedunchezhiyan College of Engineering, Tholudur, conducted a week-long AICTE-sponsored staff development programme on ‘solar energy for rural applications’.

The programme was organised with a view to create awareness among the teachers in the utilisation of solar energy for rural applications.

The chairman of the college, A. Krishnasuwami, presided over the inaugural.

The executive president of Grasim Industries Limited, Ariyalur, S. Natarajan, in his inaugural address, explained the importance of using solar energy for rural applications and stressed the need for energy conservation.

The director of the college, Major M. Kunchithapatham; the coordinator of the programme, T. Ananthanatesan, and others offered felicitations.

Staff members from various engineering colleges participated in the programme.
