Raring to go: Students of IIPM during their convocation in Hyderabad.
Idealism without ambition may not achieve much but ambition without idealism is dangerous, Rajya Sabha M.P. and former Governor Dr.C.Rangarajan told the 2008-09 batch of the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) Hyderabad. Dr. Rangarajan was the Chief Guest at the convocation ceremony of IIPM Hyderabad held at the Marriot’s Convention Centre here recently.
Dwelling on the international financial crisis and its implications, he said the worst of the crisis had not affected India expressing the hope that the country will soon recover from the slump. He concluded saying, “Youth is full of idealism and ambition but may you combine both in the right proportion.”
Vikarm Akula, Founder and Chairperson of SKA Microfinance, Kevin Potter, Deputy MD, Deloitte Tax Services India, Uma Devguptapu, Chief HR Officer, ITW India and others were present as Guests of Honour.
They awarded degrees to the graduates while Mr.Rangarajan felicitated students who had won gold and silver medals.
Subho Sekhar Bhattacharjee, Dean, Centre for Planning and Entrepreneurship urged the students to cultivate hobbies beyond their responsibilities.
“You must pursue your passion because you are only incidentally a management graduate. There is a lot more to each one of you,” he said.
