Career prospects bright for environmental science students

I have completed my 12th standard and am looking for options to pursue a career in the area of environmental science. Please tell me about the course available at graduate and PG levels related to this subject. What would be my career prospects after the completion of the course?

The following are some institutes offering the subject at bachelor’s level:

University of Delhi, Delhi offers BE Environmental Engineering. The eligibility criterion is +2 with PCM. The admission is based on performance at Combined Entrance Examination and All India Engineering Entrance Examination. For details, log on to www.du.ac.in

University of Burdwan, Bardhaman offers B.Sc Environment and Water Management and B.Sc Environmental Science. The eligibility criterion is +2. For details, log on to www.buruniv.ac.in

Some institutes offering postgraduate courses in the area are:

TERI University, New Delhi offers M.Sc in Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management, Water Resources Management and Climate Science and Policy. The eligibility criterion is bachelor’s degree in Science/ Engineering or Economics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Geography with 60 per cent marks. The admission is based on performance at online test. The institute also offers M.Tech in Renewable Energy Engineering and Management. The eligibility criterion for this programme is Bachelor’s degree in engineering or M.Sc in Physics, with 60 per cent marks. Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Faizabad offers M. Sc Environmental Science. The eligibility criterion is B.Sc in Life Sciences. The admission is based on performance at entrance test. The institute offers M.Sc Mathematical Ecology and Environment Studies also. The eligibility criterion is B.Sc with Mathematics and 50 per cent marks, and Biology at +2.
