Have a business idea?
Villgro (formerly Rural Innovations Network), a not-for-profit organisation that works at empowering rural developments by identifying and incubating innovations, for the first time has come up with a business plan competition which is open to anyone above the age of 18 years. ‘Wantrepreneur 09’ challenges one to come up with an innovative technology or a solution for the rural sector in any of these four categories — agriculture, dairy, energy and water.
The national-level competition would shortlist 30 finalists who get an opportunity to present their B-plan before a panel of judges. There are two prizes to be won in each of the categories, and the winners of Wantrepreneur get to win cash prizes worth Rs. 12 lakh.
Besides, the event promises to be a platform for entrepreneurs working in the social sector and micro enterprises to network. “We are not only looking for an idea but a start-up or an early stage venture who has already ventured into the market,” explains V. Siddharth, head of marketing and communication, Villgro.
