ISEC course in development

NAGESH PRABHU

Those who network with the private and public sectors will find it useful

Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore, is offering a short-term Certificate Course in Managing Development (CCMD). It is a three-week residential programme giving various perspectives of development and cutting-edge management strategies.

The course will be useful for people from the state, non-state and corporate sectors, who network with public and private sector for promoting developmental activities.

“CCMD is designed to cater to the increasing need felt by the development practitioners, members of corporate world and civil society organisations, researchers and students for hands-on experience in understanding and managing development,” ISEC Director R.S. Deshpande told The Hindu EducationPlus.

Development practitioners working with state, corporate, voluntary and philanthropy organisations, post-graduates and faculty of higher educational institutions and universities engaged in development teaching and research can apply. State, district and block-level officials working in development departments such as agriculture, industry, health, education, watershed and irrigation, consultants and analysts from financial institutions and functionaries of panchayats and municipalities, political executives and implementing secretaries and officers are also eligible to apply.

Apart from formal instruction, the course demands participation in extended lecture discussions, video/film documentary discussions and field trips. Participants will also be gaining hands-on experience by associating with an ongoing project.

The institute will charge a fee from each participant towards providing reading material, lodging and boarding facilities and other logistics. The course fee could be paid in cash or by Demand Draft in favour of the Registrar, ISEC, Bangalore.

Those interested may apply no later than November 30 with a detailed CV and a covering letter stating the reasons for joining the course.

The applications should be sent to the Registrar, Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Dr. V.K.R.V Rao Road, Nagarabhavi Post, Bangalore-560072. For details, visit the institute’s website.
