CAMPUS JOTTINGS

Human Rights wing to be transferred to law college

G. NARASIMHA RAO

Prof. K.V. Ramana Murthy

The human rights wing of Department of Sociology of Andhra University College of Arts and Commerce is likely be shifted to the AU Dr. Ambedkar College of Law from the next academic year. The transfer should have happened during this academic year, but is likely to take shape during the next academic year.

The Law College will not have any problem to run the course as five faculty members from the former AU PG Centre at Etcherla (Srikakulam) have come back to the AU main campus after the PG Centre has been upgraded into an university and they can be engaged to teach human rights subjects.

Department of Sociology too is reportedly not keen to run the human rights course as it lacked sufficient faculty.

But what will be the fate of Teacher Associates in the Law College and Sociology Department due to shifting of the human rights wing? Will they be continued or dispensed with is the question bothering the Teacher Associates.
