When you explain something to someone you do a lot of good to others and to yourself
|
During my college days, I was pretty strong in solving differentiation and integration problems. One of my classmates always waited for me after the class to explain the concepts. One day I just ignored him saying that “I have no idea how to solve the problem” because I was in no mood to help him out. Next morning he came to me with a lot of interest and enthusiasm to explain the problem. I could not help myself stop listening to him, not because I did not know the problem, but the way he enjoyed transferring the knowledge that he gained from someone else.
I realised that I had actually missed an opportunity to help the person.
Helping each other with right intentions always give positive results. When you explain something to someone you do a lot of good to others and to yourself. You understand the concept better, it stays in the memory for a longer time, and you also have opportunity to listen to others' point of view sometimes in the form of back-to-back questions. Schools and colleges are the best places to develop this skill. You can also develop the skill of expressing yourself clearly to others and that adds a lot to your personality. In the corporate world, it is really important to have the hunger to learn and understand every new concept.
Sharing your knowledge with others always opens you up to explore new thoughts and your hunger for knowledge never dies.
Never let your ego take control of yourself. Your true attempt to make someone understand can mean a lot to the other person.
