Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram, has invited applications for admission to its Ph.D. programme for July 2011 session. The Homi Bhabha National Institute (deemed university) has invited applications from engineering postgraduates for admissions to its Ph.D. programmes starting from August 2011.
The students will be admitted to Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai; Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam; Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Kolkata; Raja Ramanna Centre for advanced Technology, Indore; Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar, for research leading to Ph.D. These centres have been in the forefront of research in various branches of engineering viz. mechanical, chemical, metallurgical, electrical, electronics, instrumentation, and computers.
This Ph.D. programme in engineering science is extremely challenging in view of the expanding nuclear power programme of the Department of Atomic Energy. Those who secure admission will also be awarded fellowship under DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for pursuing research leading to Ph.D. The amount of fellowship is Rs.24,000 per month.
Those who possess ME / M.Tech. / equivalent degree in mechanical / chemical/ metallurgical / nuclear/ electrical/ electronics/ instrumentation or computer engineering with at least 60 per cent marks in BE / B.Tech. and 60 per cent marks in ME / M.Tech. are eligible to apply. The date of birth of the applicant should be August 1, 1983 or after.
The upper age-limit is relaxable by three years for OBC and five years for SC/ ST applicants. Applicant should be an Indian citizen.

National Inland Navigation Institute under Government of India, Patna, has invited applications for admission to its residential course on rating induction for inland vessels.
The duration of the course is six months and the course fee is Rs.13,000. The entry qualification is a pass in Class X.
The selection is based on an entrance test to be held on July 17.
