Glory of Namasankeerthanam

SRI BODHENDRA Saraswathi Swamigal, Thiruvisainallur Sri Sridhara Ayyaval and Marudhanallur Sathguruswamy are considered trinity of Dakshina Bharatha sampradaya Naama Sangeerthanam. Sri Marudhanallur Sathguru Swamigal is considered the father of Dakshina Bharatha Sampradhaaya Naamasangeerthanam in its present form.

Srivanjiyam Ramachandra Bhagavathar ushered in a new trend. The weekly sampradaya bhajans apart from inculcating bhakti into the hearts of people also served as the major aesthetic outlet for the people in the agrahaarams.

As a tribute to Shri Srivanjiyam Ramachandra Bhagavathar, the integrated Academy of performing Arts and STB music circle will award him the title ``Sangeerthana Kalanidi'' at a function to be held on December 23.

The Academy and STB (Sruthi, Tala and Bhava) are organising a three-day festival of Sampradhaya Bhajans at Meenakshi Kalyana Mandapam, Dr. Sivaji Ganesan Salai, T. Nagar. On December 21, in the presence of Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi of Kanchi Kamakoti peetam, Sri Namanandagiri will inaugurate the festival. For details contact Mr. Swaminathan on 825 9374.
