In praise of Divine Mother

Gita cassettes-GCD 144-Sanskrit Devotional-Soundaryalahari-B. Arundati. Rs. 40.

SOUNDARYALAHARI, the unmatched hymn of Adi Sankara, is a rare Tantra work in praise of the Divine Mother. It is basically in the form of a prayer which when recited regularly is supposed to rouse the spiritual power dormant in the devotee.

It is a grand lyrical litany comprising one hundred verses in praise of Devi's beauty and greatness. B. Arundati, a pliant voiced singer and disciple of T. R. Subramaniam, has fluently and with clear diction, sung the verses in sloka form in rakti ragas such as Sourashtram, Mohanam, Saveri, Kedaragowla, Anandabhairavi, Arabhi, Begada, Shanmukapriya, Nattakurinji, Kambhoji, Hindolam, Hamir Kalyani, Dhanyasi, Poorvi Kalyani, Kanada, Kalyani, Nilambari, Bhairavi, Sankarabharanam, Ranjani, Pantuvarali and Surutti.

This audio album has an arresting quality with underlying devotion as its hallmark.
