For a cause

THE TEMPLE car of Sri Saranatha Perumal Temple in Tirucherai, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur district, is being renovated. Every year, the car festival is celebrated on makara poornima pushyam. But the celebrations have been suspended from 1982. The Government of Tamil Nadu has recently permitted the renovation of the car for which a total of Rs. 16 lakhs has been estimated. The work has to be completed before January 19, to perform the car festival. Contributions (a minimum of Rs 5,000) may be made in favour of Treasurer, Sri SSS Saba, payable at Chennai.
