Centenary celebration

IN ORDER to commemorate the birth centenary of Rukmini Devi Arundale, Gummah Prefecture Indo-Japan Association, Indian Community of Japan, Chlyoda Ward in Tokyo and Embassy of India invited the Centre for Contemporary Culture, New Delhi, to hold a photographic exhibition on Rukmini Devi, apart from organising dance recitals and memorial lectures. The programme was held in Japan early this month. The museum of Myogi hosted the exhibition. Among the visitors were the Mayor of Myogi town and vice-chairman of NIKKEI School of Art.

Dance recitals in homage to Rukmini Devi were held at the Gummah Prefecture Government building in Green Hotel, Myogi, in Jiangji temple, and Kurasowa Hospital. Sponsored lectures were also held.
