Film on Kumbabhishekam
OF THE Saivite holy spots, Sirkazhi occupies a special place as it was here that the great saint, Thirugnanasambandar was born. The Lord here is known as Thoniyappar. The Siva temple here, under the control of the Dharmapuram Adheenam, was renovated and consecrated 10 years ago and a video film taken on the occasion by S.V. Ramanan and party, has been produced as a VCD.
Starting with a discourse by the Mahasannidhanam who explains the significance of temple worship and also the three-fold representation of Lord Siva in Chidambaram "Uruvam" as the image of Nataraja, "Aruvuruvam" as the Moolasthana Lingam and "Akasa" (ether) known as "Chidambara Rahasyam", the VCD contains scenes from the Adheenam's performance of various rituals in the Math, the Yagasala Pooja in the Sirkazhi temple during the Kumbabishekam, the presence of some Saivite Math heads and the performance of the consecration ceremony. The VCD is meant to be a guide in the conduct of kumbabhishekam. For details contact: Kailai Shivaparvathi, Former Director of Collegiate Education, 227/9, TTK Road, Alwarpet. (Ph: 24996814) .
