Narada Gana Sabha
Impressive Kuchipudi
Deepika Reddy
AT THE Narada Gana Sabha inaugural function, Deepika Reddy from Hyderabad presented a Kuchipudi recital with an impressive display of talent. Deepika's tall stature and elegant personality added beauty to her performance. By working on her skill, especially in the Nritta aspects, she will attain greater heights. Also in the usage of the upper torso, she needs to infuse certain flexibility to add more grace. She has a very expressive face that can bring about swift change of emotions appropriately.
The Rukmini Partra Praavesika Daru was the opening item which was well presented by Deepika. Govardhana Giridhari , Tarangam of Sri Narayana Tirtha, was the major number that the dancer handled with ease. Her delineation of the various sancharis and movements were marked with grace. The traditional rhythmical explorations on the plate were done with confidence.
The Javali composition, ``Parulana Maata" that followed was yet another short piece, in which Deepika revealed considerable merit. The orchestra proved to be a great asset for this recital. Kishore, a senior disciple of Dr. Vempati, conducted the performance with excellent grip. Sweta Ravindranath sang melodiously. The percussive support by the talented accompanist Renuka Prasad, Ravi Kiran (flute) and Sai Kumar (violin) enhanced the quality of Deepika's performance.
