Short film
Pugazhendhi
SAI SURYA Enterprise has produced a short film based on Pugazhendi's short story, `December 6.'
Directed by the writer himself, the film is based on a story where the protagonist gets to `see' his bride at a temple on the said date 30 years back.
He decides to visit the temple every year with his wife. The story details his vivid experiences on the day. He is blessed with a son and a daughter who are now in Australia.
But after the Babri Masjid demolition, December 6 is observed as Black Day. Though he feels lonely here after the death of his wife days before the demolition, his patriotism prevents him from migrating to foreign land. Due to sentimental attachment, he tries to visit the same temple on the day in the subsequent years and is annoyed at the tight security arrangements there.
He remembers how peacefully he used to visit the temple with his wife, and dejected, decides to live with his son in Australia. The short film is to be screened in Chennai during the first week of December. His short story, `Appa' was also made into a film by Madhishri Creations two years back.
This film won accolades at the short film festivals at Switzerland and Paris.
