Margazhi Mahotsavam
THE "TAMBARAM Music Club," started in 1995, conducted the "Margazhi Mahotsavam" from December 26 - 31, 2004. The festival began with the concert of V. Sankaranarayan. The main piece of the concert was "Thodi" which served as an impressive prelude to the kriti, "Dasarade." Surya Prakash, disciple of T. V. Sankaranarayanan has a mellifluous voice and the package of songs spoke highly of the performance. Mullaivasal G. Chandramouli and A. S. Ranganathan proved energetic accompanists. Krishna Mohan and Ramkumar Mohan (Trichur Brothers), sons of Sri Mohan, mridangam artiste, were slotted in the junior section but seemed to deserve a better position. Voices in perfect harmony, the duo rendered rare kritis.
The Hyderabad Brothers rendered an equally pleasant concert. Veena artiste Jayalakshmi Shekar kept the audience glued to her instrument.
The highlight of the festival was Maharajapuram Ramachandran's concert. Geetha Rajashekar, Girish, Vasumati Badrinath and Ravikiran were the others who performed.
