Members of the noted dramatic body Sri Saikala Niketan featured Satyaharischandra on May 13, at the Premasamajam Hall in Visakhapatnam.
The team headed by renowned artiste Mallela Rajendra Prasad, lecturer, AU Department of Theatre Arts, staged the play.
An accomplished actor, Prasad exploiting the inherent melody in his voice to the hilt, not only lived the role of Harischandra but also made the presentation of the abridged play an enjoyable treat from the word go .
Ably complemented
While Ramadevi of Vizianagaram complemented well as Chandramathi, young Bagadi Viajasaradhi did not lag behind unveiling the character of `Nakshatraka' with enough pep. Others in the cast, B. Vikram Goud as Kalakousika, Pavan and Puskar as the sishyas-- Kesava and Janardana, Dr. N.A.D. Paul as Veerabahu, and Master Prasad as Lohitasya in particular did well sustaining the tempo with good gusto.
Bagadi Vijayasaradhi on harmonium, Ch. Yella Rao on clarinet and Satyanarayana Raju on tabla provided orchestral support.
Other credits for make-up, stage decor, lighting, stage management and co-ordination were well shared by Srinivas, Mahesh Babu, Ramana Murthy, Simhadri, Kesava Raju and Chowdary Appa Rao (president of the Kalaniketan).
