A wide range of handcrafted and hand-woven products from Orissa and the North East are on display at two exhibition centres. Exquisitely conceived clay fruits, intricately woven `apple' cane sofa sets from Assam combine comfort with aesthetics. The exhibition has been brought to the city by the Kalinga Industrial Co-operative Society of Bhubaneshwar. The piece d' resistance are the large red granite sculptures of gods and goddesses. Large patachitra paintings, delicately executed palm leaf etchings and pretty filigree work items and Tussar saris are also on display at C. P. Arts Centre, 1, Eldams Road, Alwarpet.
From the North-East
The North-East Crafts Fair offers cane and bamboo artefacts, sofa-sets and moorahs from Assam, pretty baskets, vases and trays from Manipur, Meghalaya, Assam and Tripura.
Intriguing Koyna grass cushions from Manipur and Tussar temple bordered saris also form part of the fair. Clay items from West Bengal, gem stone boxes from Rajasthan are also available at the fair now on at Sankara Hall, TTK Road, Alwarpet. Both the exhibitions are on till May 30.
