Tirunakshatram
To commemorate the 61st Tirunakshatram of U. Ve. Mukkur Lakshmi Narasimhachariyar Swami, celebrations will be on at Matapalli Mahakshetram for six days from June 18-23, culminating in Thirumanjanam to the deities.
Honour for musician
Maharajapuram Santhanam Foundation will confer the musician's memorial award to Thanjavur Sankara Iyer at a function organised at Vani Mahal on June 18 at 6.15 p.m. He will be presented with a cash award of Rs. 10,000 and a gold medal. Parur M. A. Krishnaswamy, Pudukkottai Ramachandran and Srirangam Kannan will also be honoured. Industrialist P. Obul Reddy will preside. Sankara Iyer will give a concert at 4.30 p.m.
Tyagaraja Utsavam
Sarvani Sangeetha Sabha will observe Tyagaraja Jayanti on June 22. The programme at Music Academy Mini Hall, 6.30 p.m. will feature Tyagaraja kritis to be rendered by eminent artistes. The group concert includes Utsava Sampradaya kritis and Divya Nama Kritis.
