Imagine you could place an order for a perfect husband from a department store and have him door delivered to you?
Would you prefer this synthetic bliss or the ups-and-downs of a natural relationship with your better half? This is what heroine Mallika has to decide in `The Perfect Husband.'
A newspaper advertisement makes her impulsively go for a robot husband who will obey her. The `perfect husband' is electronically fed to converse and shower endless praises on her, spend more time with her, help her mother, and never question her shopping while her true husband is on a business tour!
Impractical
This `idealistic-but-impractical' imagination of the heroine forms the spirited storyline of the Hindi play, that had film star Poonam Dhillon don the role of a bored housewife (her bright attires notwithstanding!), annoyed and looking for more attention from her die-hard professional husband Amar, very well played by Suraj Thapar this past weekend at the Music Academy.
The engaging and compelling comedy had some fun-filled moments, entertained hundreds of couples gathered there to draw similarities in the fights portrayed on stage!
Reality bites they say, and the play, directed by Nitin Jagdish for ``Yatri" from Mumbai, while highlighting the comedy of human expectations, did manage to subtly splash the message across that it is not the rain of praises that sustains love but acts of care and understanding that need no dramatic and vocal declarations.
The comic situations brought about by wrong operations of the robot-husband leave the audience in splits.
