Homage to Dikshitar

Saraswati Vaggeyakara Trust, Chennai (Ph: 044-2495 3991) has been organising concerts in memory of Muthuswami Dikshitar at Ettayapuram, where the composer shed his mortal coil, for the past 13 years. The venue is Meenalochani Mandapam, constructed by M. S. Sundaram Pillai, an admirer. The structure includes a brindavanam. Regular pujas have been arranged at this hall. Musicians travel from far and near to take part in the annual event.

This year, Narada Gana Sabha and Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha of Chennai and Sri Nadajothi Muthuswamy Dikshitar Memorial Committee of Ettayapuram have joined to present `Sangeethanjali' to begin on August 7. Musicians including M. Chandrasekharan, Tirupoonthuruthi Venkatesan, Subha Ganesan, Aiswarya Murali and Nisha Rajagopal will render concerts.
