Kalaripayattu for our times

The Kalari Academy of Performing Arts is holding a performance on December 16 at Town Hall, J.C. Road, 7.30 p.m. The academy's aim is to popularise Kalaripayattu, Kerala's martial art, and provide professional training to urban audiences. It offers programmes designed to cope with the rigors and pressures of everyday life without compromising on the essence of the training techniques as practised in the traditional kalaris.

Professional training programmes at the academy have been classified as regular, short-term and weekend to cater to different requirements. The academy, which stages performances at various festivals and corporate events, has performed for companies such as Intel, IBM, Infosys and Microsoft as part of its efforts to build a wider reach.
