Bharati Tiruvizha

Bharati Tiruvizha is being celebrated from December 9-11 at Bharati Illam, Triplicane. Sri Surjit Singh Barnala, Governor of Tamil Nadu, will be the chief guest.

Actor Surya is inaugurating the festival on the first day at 6.30 p.m. Programmes that follow are: "Ettayapurathu Subbaiah" by Ramanan and "Kannan Emberuman" a dance presentation by Narada Gana Sabha Natyarangam.

On Saturday, students of Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan will render songs at 8.55 a.m. Sirgazhi Sivachidambaram, Gayathri Mahesh, Sangeetha Sivakumar, Vasundhara Rajagopal and Subiksha Rangarajan will give concerts. Ramjhi's Isai Mazhalai will entertain the audience at 5.45 p.m. followed by a concert by Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna. Swarnamalya will present a dance programme, `Naan Barathi Dasan.'

On Sunday, students of Tiruchi Srimathi Indira Gandhi College will present cultural programmes at 10.15 a.m. At 6.15 p.m., `Barathi Virudhu 2005' will be awarded to Dr. V. Shantha, Director, Cancer Institute, Adyar. At 7.30 p.m., a CD containing the special lectures of Sukhi Sivam will be released by M Saravanan. Kumarichezhiyan will receive the first copy.
