Music festival

Valayapatti Naadhalaya, Velachery, will be conducting music festival at Hemamalini Kalyana Mandapam from December 24 to January 1. Cho. Ramaswamy will be inaugurating the festival.

Yoga classes

Satyananda Yoga Centre conducts free yoga classes and has completed 40 batches covering more than 3,000 people. The 41st batch commences on December 11 from 5.30 - 7 a.m. at Bala Vidya Higher Secondary School, 30 Vasudevapuram, West Mambalam. Bhagavatha charithram

Sree Siddhi Vinayagar Baktha Samajam (Ph: 22243533) has organised for Sri Bhagavatha charithra pravachana mahotsavam by Sri B. Sundarkumar from Dec.15-18, 7 p.m. at Sri Siddhi Vinayagar Aalayam, State Bank Colony, Nanganallur.

Lecdem

Kalakshetra is presenting a lec-dem on padams and javalis by Nirmala Ramachandran on December 10 at 6.30 p.m. at Bharata Kalakshetra Auditorium. There will also be a presentation of a series of talks on `Rational Approach to Manodharma' by T. R. Subramaniam till December 9 from 2-3 p.m.

Music Event

Shanthi Arts Foundations and Emdowments is celebrating its tenth annual music event. The nine-day programme, which starts on December 9 at Sastri Hall, Mylapore, is dedicated to Sangeetha Kalanidhi Musiri Sri. Subramania Iyer. The event will be presided by V.V. Srivathsa and Dr. Mano Bhakthavatsalam will be the chief guest. Vidya Shankar (veenai), Sikkil Bhaskaran (violin) and T.S. Sankaran (flute) will be honoured.

Term extended

Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan, violin exponent and member-secretary of Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram, will continue in the post for three more years. The State Government has just announced the decision with effect from November 11.
